HONEY HOUSE

POP-UP BAR, EVENT, & HOSPITALITY BRAND
My dear friends at the Honey House asked me to develop the branding for their bar, a venture that began in 2018 in the Bay Area as Honey House Records and has since evolved into a beloved community revolving around art, music, and some of the best cocktails west of the Mississipi.

With Honey House transitioning from pop-up darling to permanent fixture in East LA’s bar scene, I faced the task of lassoing its many identities — record label, fluid community space, curated cocktail series, event production operation — and giving them a holistic brand that stayed true to the honey-heart of where they’d been and where they were headed.

HAND-PAINTED, HONEY-COATED
The logo was inspired by an old hand-painted sign made by a friend for the original Honey House — a place of late-night congregation and string light-lit dinners nestled in LA’s Highland Park.

We wanted the branding to capture some of the organic charm and history of the place but still feel fresh, cohesive, and modern.

BEYOND THE BOTTLE
The beverage elements in the logo lockup became the foundation for a comprehensive illustration library. Drawing inspiration from mid-century cocktail napkins, these assets brought a bit of nostalgic charm to every touchpoint, from digital to print.

I leveraged the illustrations across an assortment of merch items to bring the brand to life beyond the bar.
